The San Isidro Lighthouse trekking is a beautiful coastal walk that takes you to the southernmost lighthouse on the mainland of Chile. It is located about 75 km south of Punta Arenas. This hike is a great mix of nature, history, and easy adventure. That’s why many travelers choose it.
To start with, the trail begins in the Agua Fresca area and follows the coast along the Strait of Magellan. Also, the path goes through local forests with trees like coigüe, lenga, and canelo. Later on, you will reach the San Isidro Lighthouse, built in 1904. So, you enjoy both nature and history in one walk.
On top of that, the trail gives you views of Dawson Island, Tierra del Fuego, and nearby channels. Because the trail is not steep, most people can do it without much trouble. In other words, it’s a nice walk for beginners and families.

Pick up from accommodation place, and departure to Punta Arbol area, located 75 kms south from Punta Arenas, where the last 20 kms are gravel. Cost route next to Magallanes Strait, and native forest, where it´s possible to watch marine fauna and birds, according to the season.
The trekking its about 8 kilometers in total, trought the beach, where you can see flora and fauna, views of Dawson island and Darwin Mountains.
