Mount Tarn is a mountain range of approximately 850m high, formed by rocks of marine origin. It is located at the southern tip of the Brunswick Peninsula. It is an eastern sub-Andean area that represents a transition strip between the Andean mountain range and the eastern plains. Therefore, this entire sector corresponds to the southern end of the continental Andes.
Trekking route to Mount Tarn
It is through leafy forests with species such as coihue de Magallanes, canelo, Guaitecas cypress, peat bogs, creeping plants, etc. The soil is very humid due to high rainfall. Therefore, the climate is cold temperate with high humidity.
From the summit of Tarn you can see the Magellan Strait, San Isidro Lighthouse, the Dawson Islands, Tierra del Fuego, the great Darwin mountain range, Mount Sarmiento and the entire Brunswick peninsula.

We go to each person accommodation in Punta Arenas, then we take the road 75 kms south from the city.
First we do the induction talk and then we start the ascent through canelo and evergreen forest species, humid ambient with lush vegetation. We arrive to the first lookout of cypress trees (5 minutes rest), after we start crossing some peat bogs, and then coihues forest. In the last stage we go through a rocky part, until arrive to the summit. Here you have a stuning view of Dawson Island, San Isidro Lighthouse, and looking south to the occidental view of Magellanes Strait. The time we spend in the summit depends on weather conditions. Also there is the chance of no getting to the summit, basically because weather conditions.
We return by the same trail back. The estimate time of arrival to Punta Arenas it´s 19.00 hrs approximately, it can change according to weather conditions or the speed of the group, coul be before 19hrs or latter.
This trekking it's available all year, depending on weather conditions.
To do this tour we need at least 4 people. You can make your reservation from 1 person, however the tour will be confirmed once we get the minimum, if ge dont get the minimum we can change the date or return the payment. During winter the pick up is one hour before because we have less sunlight. It really important to have appropiate personal mountain gear, headlamp, and compatible health.
